Hi, I've searched all over the place for a similar scenario but can't seem to find a solution.

The short: I can't get my pc to send an audio signal via HDMI to my Yamaha receiver. Video gets sent fine. The reason it won't send audio is because my Yamaha receiver is connected to a DVI projector and my pc can see that. Is there any way to trick or force my pc to send the HDMI audio signal for the sake of my receiver being able to receive it?

My HDMI playback device says, NVIDIA high definition audio not plugged in.

PC: HP G60
OS: WU64

Receiver: yamaha HTR-8063

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I've downloaded the latest stable driver release from NVIDIA, but now my laptop won't send a video signal to my projector, it does however indicated that my HDMI connection is fully functional, including my audio. It will not play sounds through hdmi though.

Currently downloading a fresh BETA release from NVIDIA.... and if that doesn't work I'm going to go back to the drivers listed on the HP site for my machine. Hopefully something will work.

Anyone want to take a crack at this?

I think, although no expert on this, you need to edit the EDID of your DVI projector to trick the system into thinking that it supports audio. Basically you download software such as MonInfo, obtain the inf file, edit the audio capability flag, and install the inf file by properties of your projector > drivers> update

I suggest posting at avsforum in HTPC as there are many there who can help.
