HTPC with Zorin OS 11

Any and all advice is necessary.

I really made a mess, I was in charge with buying a smart tv for my mothers birthday and I ended up buying a good tv, there's nothing wrong with it except for the fact that it isn't smart.

So I've been reading on the internet and I guess my best bet would be to setup a HTPC rather than buying one. And I thought I would go with Zorin OS but I'm already unsure if it would be 9 or 11.

Well I doubt 11 would be advisable since it's the newest.
So I'd guess 9 would be the most tested
Of course I have no idea what htpc is

Most would just get a ruku which can be used with windows or linux lite is actually what my nephew uses.

I think I'd go for a Fire stick and put Kodi/xbmc on it, that should cover all smart tv stuff.

I've just checked and Finland doesn't have amazon so it's not really much good.

I can always get from Deutschland.

But no really this was just a thought seems my mother is just more keen on having a TV with Smart technology than getting more stuff so I'll scratch the HTPC but leave it as a test out Zorin OS.

Well my mom wants it mostly because she works at YLE which is the Finnish broadcasting company and they have a like player on a website that lets you watch programmes that have aired but you have missed your chance to watch them.

And with a Smart TV you can get the app for that website.

Yea I believe I would rather hook a dumb t.v. to a computer than buying a smart t.v.
Easier to deal with for one I would imagine than jumping through hoops to for one adding an antivirus and malware protection to it.

Well if only. You don't know my parents and their fears towards the new technologies advancements that are out there, to put it plainly my parents reactions towards technology is basically the fear of Skynet.

But yeah have to agree with you partially, it ain't that smart.
