wow, I had no ideal that company was so unreliable and wishy washy.
living in a rural area, I've had directv since 1996, and didn't realize they offered internet service.
i'm glad I posted my question here, I feel like I received sound advice.
thank-you very much and have a wonderful day,
john

I wouldn't think it would be any less reliable than it's t.v. signal,
Satellites have come a long way/ Make sure you ask if you have the most up to date equipment.
Thanks for the feedback,
Cheers.

I asked the Dish service tech about satellite internet when he was here for a repair and his response was not encouraging. High latency, pricey for the good package, dodgy speed, download caps etc. His advice was to stick with DSL or cable if available.

Ah yes, the local rural phone monoply. I know it only too well. I too had hoped for better service from a satellite. I could live with some of its apparent quirks but the bandwidth caps are problematic for me. For the price of the service I just cannot abide those caps.....

Same here, terrible internet speed and reliability. But, no choice. I've looked into satellite service, but, like mentioned above, high latency and bandwidth caps would not be good for me. The only alternative for me is to stay with the rural phone monopoly. Needless to say, Customer Service knows me on a first name basis.
