Well, we have only got some light rain, so far out of this. I'm about 65 miles north of Tampa. As it moves further west we are just getting some outer band rain and not much more. A lot better than what was originally forecasted.

Predictions are for 10"+ of rain along coastal areas.

Looks like Isaac will stay west of me hopefully(Ozark,Al). Rain forecast late Monday night through Thursday here.

The problem they are having is with the models. Isaac is moving West around a ridge to its North. There is a trough moving across the southern US and some models think it may pick up Isaac and steer it North toward the Florida panhandle. Some models think that Isaac will not get to the trough in time but will continue West off shore of Louisiana then move inland near Lake Charles. The official track toward the Mississippi coast is between these models and is probably wrong as it could go East or West of that tract. Its a big guessing game right now and it will be Monday night or Tuesday Morning to get a better fix. Gas lines were heavy all day today all along the Gulf coast and a run on the grocery stores. I filled my tank this morning and have 30gal of gas for my generator. Pantry is well stocked and just need to check my propane for the BBQ grill.

11pm update

Here is the latest and they still don't know.

THE MODELS SHOW ISAAC TURNING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST INTO A BREAK IN THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE. ALTHOUGH THE MODELS AGREE ON THIS TURN...THERE IS AN UNUSUALLY LARGE SPREAD IN THE TRACK GUIDANCE AFTER 24 HOURS. THE SPREAD OF LANDFALL LOCATIONS ALONG THE NORTHERN GULF COAST RANGES FROM THE TEXAS/LOUISIANA BORDER EASTWARD TO THE ALABAMA/FLORIDA BORDER WITH THE HWRF...GFDL...AND GFS NEAR THE WESTERN EDGE AND THE UKMET AND ECMWF ALONG THE EASTERN EDGE OF THE ENVELOPE.

Been there, Done That a number of times. It's a weird feeling standing in the calm weather and knowing your in the middle of a Cat 3.

It certainly is kind of eerie. And you know there's more to come. But it does give you a chance to go outside and assess damage to date.

Went through a relatively weak, but large hurricane sometime in the early to mid 80s that seemed to me, at the time, to be a quite a bit stronger than had been reported (otherwise I think I would've evacuated the family). Power had been out and it went through over the night, but damn, this one seemed stronger than any I had been through. Stayed up the whole night, went out to look around in the morning and found that a bunch of houses were gone from the subdivision starting just 6 houses away from me. All I needed was a new roof. All they had left were their foundations (slabs). Turned out it was just one of the tornadoes that it spawned. More than half the neighborhood was gone or way beyond repair. I can estimate it was probably about 70 to 100 houses, but couldn't say how many actually died that night.

Last 30+ years I've lived in the relatively higher elevations in the area; it's not been the water levels that have concerned me as much as it used to when living in lower areas, it's the potential tornadic activity that I worry about.

Overnight we finally started to get some steady rain. Looks like it will be around for a while. But, fortunately nothing like was originally forecast.

The school board apparently is not impressed with the storm. Other counties in the area and to the south have cancelled school today. Citrus county has not.

The rain has been mostly light. Looking at Radar the heaviest rain is north and east of this area.

I hope its gone by 6PM. Our band does a weekly Monday evening show in Oxford (west end of "The Villages" area). Too much rain and it will keep the people away.

Its been a long day. Finishing clearing the patio and yard of UFO's and got a load of sand bags just in case. I have a large CharGrill BBQ and for now I used the sand bags around it to keep it from rolling away as it on the covered patio. My brother and his wife came up from New Orleans this morning. Watched the traffic jamb on I-10 in New Orleans with people heading West. My local Shell station was out of gas this morning. Glad I topped up yesterday. Isaac is still a tropical storm but may reach Cat 1 before land fall. Nice breeze this afternoon and the clouds coming in from the East gave us a beautiful sunset.

Well, we dodged a bullet here in the Tampa area. The upper Gulf coast is not going to be that lucky. I hope its not as bad as the predictions. I've been through several Hurricanes while at Keesler AFB (Biloxi).

Isaac is still a Tropical Storm and may be a Cat 1 at landfall around 10PM tonight at the mouth of the Mississippi river.

If this storm stays on the latest track
It will come right up over Arkansas, we do really need rain,way too dry . still under a state burn ban, our farmers need mositure to get their Fall crops planted.
We all know they need to try and get feed for their animals , as well as market, if at all possible,
so far they have lost almost everything from this drought.

It is not a Cat 1 Hurricane. I just heard from a friend in Hattiesburg, MS. They are getting some outer band rains.

Everything I've found on it since around 1400 CDT today has it as a Cat 1.

It's a weak Cat 1, and has only dropped to 975 mb. Although it looks as though it's finally started picking up some moisture. Up until this morning it looked like a pretty dry one.
