Hyperosmia at the office

I just wanted to share this bit of info as it has put a new lease on life at the office, or taken something out of the picture and made a difference.
In addition to some allergies, I have a hyperosmic condition resulting in a sharp reaction to certain perfumes and scents. Work does not have a no-scent policy. Other scents such as the smell of fritos or corn chip snacks are disgusting but at least they don't make me nauseous or give me migraines. Anyways apparently hypersomia is genetic, other people who have this condition can react to other scents.
So last week I picked up a Holmes Aer1-hap9423, had to do something. Office room is about 30'x30' 5 other coworkers & some misc office traffic. Placed the unit under the cubical desk on a thin foam pad to help reduce any noise. Coworkers say they cannot hear it running on low. Over the past few days the people who, well - stink, have had no affect. The decomposing diaper frito odors have also been smashed. Well, if i'm standing in or near their cubical sure I can smell that but not in my immediate surrounding. I brought the idea of the purifier up with coworkers before I got it. It's important to discuss these things in an office environment out of respect if anything. It also helps to introduce something like that and provides an understanding.
I had hoped for some results but so far this product has been friggin great. I feel I can breathe better. The real test will be in the summer when at times people back from lunch or walks from breaks make the place smell like a locker room. But I believe it'll help. On low, it has a time with some lunch odors such as Chinese food or fish. But it still helps.
If you take a moment and think about the trickle down affect one thing can have to better your working environment, it can make for better working relations. Eco balance, values rising

My dear Wife has the same problem (perfumes and scents), but her Doctor diagnosed Situational or Non-Allergic (intrinsic) asthma, but hyperosmia would certainly factor into it.
In acute cases she has to go on a prednisone script until her system can relax and take over again.

The majority of the human race never take the time to stop and think what their actions are doing to others, all they are concerned about is themselves.

One associate my wife works with applies her perfume several times a day and when she goes through my wife's area, my wife comes home coughing, hacking, and hardly breathing, looking like she's been crying all day. These types of people have gained an immunity to their "odors" and if they can't smell their odor they think they have to add more until they do "smell".

Where do they think they are? Out Partying? You are at work, you're not trying to score (at least you shouldn't be). You do not have to smell like a $10 hooker, you only have to have no smell at all!

I will tell my wife about your Holmes Aer1-hap9423 find; I wonder if her work will allow it being she works for a large department store and not only has to put up with the associates, but also customers, the customers can't understand why my wife shunts them off to other associates, but my wife is too polite to explain, meanwhile she suffers.
She has mentioned it to her commission customers when they ask why she's suddenly started to hack and cough, and they come back sans any perfumes or scents out of respect for her and the experience she has to offer them to find what they are looking for.

I also have a reaction to women's perfumes, not men's cologne though. I feel I can't breathe when near them or cough, I've never seem a doc for it though. This could explain it.

Steve, if I was your wife I'd have no qualms about saying something like, "I'm sorry but I have a severe allergy to strong scents", or something like that. I agree people who come to work smelling like the proverbial French whore are really inconsiderate. Yes, a daily bath is the best.

I think many Girls/Ladys use far to much sent at a time a perfume should only be detected if you are very close or being intimate
