I am a lone Administrator with no power.

I am the only user AaLF (administrator.) There are no other user accts.

I want to burn a rescue CD. But although I am designated Adminstrator Win 7 considers me unworthy.

How can I upgrade myself to an Adminstrator with privaledges?

A couple of options would be to elevated your account so it has the same rights as the built-in "elevated" Administrator account.....

User Account Control (UAC) - Elevate Privilege Level

Hey Brink. Good to hear from you. I'd like to retain my 'power admin' 24/7 but back in the old XP days security people used to warn against it in case of hackers or exploits or some other techno terms.

No problem with Win7?

Yeah, it's still the same in Windows 7. That account is best not to be used as an everyday account, and only as needed for better security.

If it was a program, You could always try right clicking the program that makes the rescue cd and choose run as administrator. This should work. This should elevate your permissions for that program.

In the case of 24/7 though just like brink says its not a good idea. Its better to be under a limited account or a admin account with uac turned on, otherwise you will be vulnerable.

One of the many reasons 7 is more secure is due to UAC
