i cannot boot windows 7 cd to install windows 7

recently..i helped my friend to do a clean windows 7 professional installation.But,the cd won't boot at after i restarts the laptop.The system just ignores the CD and boots right into Windows 7 starter.And then,i tried ubuntu cd installation..still cannot.i suspect that the drive is the problem.but,i still can play DVD movie using the drive.

Check your BIOS to make sure the boot order is set correctly....

it varies, but most can be accessed by hitting f2 during boot.. select the boot order option and set your dvd drive to first checked..
