I cannot find Restore Points created "daily" with Task Scheduler.

Task Scheduler is setup to create restore points every day at midnight and at startup. It indicates that it runs successfully but those points do not show up in System Restore.

Do you use Ccleaner. You can also look for restore points in there. Check and see how much hard drive space is free. I see you have a 1 TB bit with lots of info and several restore points they can get full.

Yes, and they are not there either. Scheduler History was turned off by default (brand new computer). I turned it on and set it to go at 1:35PM today. It shows completed successfully in Scheduler history but still does not show up as a restore point in System Restore. I did see an "operational code" of "(2)", so I am checking this out online.

I have the feeling that the purpose of that task is to make sure that you have at least one RP per week. I have only ever seen it create an RP once in over a year when I had deleted all RPs.

I knew that Windows 7 created restore points weekly (Sundays, I think) but I thought possibly the place where I purchased my new computer had set it up to run daily. Looking online, it looks like the daily SR run is standard but that doesn't mean that System Restore Points are created every time the program runs. I think I am going to have to create (or download) an alternative.

Try this. I have used it to create an RP in task manager. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/494-system-restore-point-shortcut.html

No you don't. see my earlier post. The tutorial allows you to download a VB script which can be run by the task scheduler daily. I've been doing that for months now.

Solved!

I found a third party program I like. I use its automated script for daily (generically named SR points) and their manual program (on my desktop) that I use when I want to create a (named) SP point.

Thanks for all the help!
