I cannot find the correct place to change the USB settings

Hello, I ran an energy report and have changed a few settings. I cannot find the correct place to change the USB settings. I changed some settings in the device manager but the remarks for the USB are still there. Anybody some direction for me? Thanks, henk

Thank you! The only option there is below on screenshot translated it says "selective suspension enabled". I found other setting in the device mgr. but the attached energy report is still complaining about a setting I cannot locate.

The energy file (recommandation SF) attached points out that some USB settings are not optimal, that is the only reason plus my curiosity that I cannot find where to change these settings, thanks henk

Whether the settings are optimal or not really is your opinion. They may be optimal for the OS and the hardware in your system and power config. Otherwise why would they be set that way?
You still haven't stated what problem you are having with the settings as they are and what setting it is.

No I don't feel like downloading a ZIP file to page through and find what you think is wrong when you can just state it in a post. Doing that is like a test, a scavenger hunt. See if you can find the problem I am talking about. Sorry I don't do Tests.

Edwar, I really do not understand your reaction. My conclusion must therefore be that you also have no clue where to find the USB settings that should be optimised according to the SF energy test (tutorials). Better say that next time. It is all about battery life and battery drain while in standby mode, sorry being interested in that. My question is and was WHERE are these additional USB settings, nothing more nothing less. I showed that they are not available where Ztruker pointed out.

It is just the way I am. Instead of posting all those ZIP files you could of simply stated what setting you want to change and the problem you are seeing in that report.

I looked at one of them and some were highlighted in yellow, IIRC, but nothing really popped out at me saying THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG AND SHOULD BE CHANGED.

Could simply be they are hard coded into the OS and can't be changed. I run several notebooks and in all honesty I have never had a problem with the USB ports draining the battery if nothing is plugged into any of them.

I'll run that test myself and post back. I don't have my Dell E6420 at home right now but I do have a Macbook Pro running Win 7.

Thanks Edwar, no problem. Before optimising I had super support and help from genius BSoD guys (Arc, Koolkat77 and Dave) and they mastered an annoying hibernation/ standby mode BSoD problem I had for over a year. Next step for me is energy drain. It is about the red lines in the report of 10 min. ago they say in English (between clamps) as my sys is Dutch:

USB onderbreken:USB-apparaat wordt niet onderbroken
(USB is not susspended)

Het USB-apparaat is niet in de stand-bymodus gezet.
(USB device has not been set in stand-by mode)
Energiebeheer voor de processor wordt mogelijk verhinderd als een USB-apparaat niet in de stand-bymodus wordt gezet wanneer het niet wordt gebruikt.
(Powercontrol for the processor might be blokked if a USB device is not put in standby mode when not in use)

I uploaded the suspension setting Zruker pointed out and there suspended has been chosen but apparently these settings have no effect. Therefore my question if somebody is aware of other USB settings I missed.

The best I can tell you went through the proper steps in Windows 7. Just a though; could their/there be a setting in your Bios? I wouldn't change things in Bios unless you are comfortable doing so.

1. Power Options
2. Change when computer sleeps
3. Change advanced power settings
4. USB settings
5. USB selective suspend settings

Hi Layback Bear, thank you. The USB setting I have is according to what you write, still the energy test (tutorials) point out in red that devices are not put in standby. I have not thought of the BIOS, I will have a look there today and let you know. Thank you.

I have no idea of the workings of the bios of your system but you could Google
Eup or What is Eup Ready and the use of it.
