since you were dual booting (vista, and win 7) win 7 put boot files in a hidden folder called boot. You are going to have to do a repair install from you win 7 dvd.

You may have to run it a few times.

You will need to make the Win 7 partition active. You can do that using Diskpart during the repair, or use a third party partitioning software like GParted or Partition Wizard. Then run the startup repair.

Hello Chen:

If Win7 Startup Repair will not write the MBR to Win7 when run three separate times with reboots, then you need to mark it Active first.

Boot into DVD Repair console, click through to Recovery Tools list, open a Command Line, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (replace # with Win7 HD)
LIST PARTITION
SELECT PARTITION # (for Win7 partition)
ACTIVE
EXIT

Now return to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots, as it will try to repair and then write the MBR to Win7 which was previously on Vista partition.

Thank you. I think so. win 7 partition is not active now. I try to do it.
