My Computer has worked awesome for months. Now all of a sudden after it sits for awhile.(Like 15 mins +) It wont let me click on any windows 7 buttons.
Cant click on icons in the quick launch area.
Cant click the buttons to close an open window.
Yet I can click on desktop icons.:sarc:

Only way to get it to let me click again is hit CTRL + Alt + Del When the window pops up with the options I can hit cancel and I can click on these things again. It's getting more frequent and annoying!

I have run disk check repair and that didn't help.

Any advice would be great!

Have you tried doing a System Restore?

If a Repair Install didn't work, you may need to perform a Clean Install.

I solved this

Had the same problem after a new install of Windows 7 64 Professional.

The symptoms were intermittent : couldn't click the Start button, anything on the toolbar, or anything that controlled a window (resize etc). In-app buttons and functions worked though. The only thing that fixed it was CTRL-ALT-DEL and it got very annoying.

I ended up uninstalling everything bit by bit trying to find the issue. Then I unplugged my mouse.

It is a great mouse - Logitech G9X - but it has an interchangable cover and it was holding down one of the side buttons. Fiddled with it until it was seated properly and all was good. Apart from having to reinstall all my updates and half my applications......

You might not have the exact same issue, but do check mouse hardware.

It was so annoying that I registered here just to share this, so hope it helps someone!

Had the same problem, untill i read Sebbs post.
I created this account just to thank you Sebb , I also have G9x mouse and a few days ago I changed the case when the problem occurred.
Read your post and removed the case, everything worked.

So thank u!
