I've used Windows 7 for 11 years but only noticed this recently.

If I click a file on the Desktop to rename it, pressing Ctrl+a has no effect!

Is this normal behavior? If not, could it be some kind of malware?

Hello Marty,

Sorry, I cannot repeat the issue on my computer. If I select rename a file, then immediately the whole name is highlighted anyways. If I deselect the file name, then press CTRL+a, then the filename is selected again.

Ctrl+a normal behaviour is to 'select all', and should work when renaming files or folders.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like something is wrong with my Windows then! Wish I knew what!

Anyone know if it could be malware?

After highlighting the file press F2
