Ok so a few days ago I downloaded a new theme for my laptop which is Windows 7 Home Premium and I didn't like it so I uinstalled it and also I deleted a .dll file in the themes folder and I thought that when I restarted the laptop it would just be back to the normal "Windows 7 theme" but when I turned it on after I logged in the screen was black and an error came up about something to do with the ".dll file missing" and I kept trying to restart it a couple of times and then when I turned it on later on the "startup repair" came up and I tried to restore the system but it wouldn't work and now whenever I turn on the laptop it just goes straight to startup repair.

I went to a computer repair place and they said that they could backup the harddrive and it might need replacing which will cost alot

how could this be true when all that I did was delete a little file

please tell me there is a simple way of fixing this

Do you need Windows 7 disks for that?

I'm so confused right now :(

Have you tried the system file checker first? You don't need any windows 7 disk for the file checker.

Guys, he can't run file system checker because he can't get past startup repair when booting.

Perform the Startup Repair, as it's asking to do. If you can't perform the Startup Repair, you'll need to do a Repair Install, of which you'll need a Windows 7 disc for.

All the instructions to do so are in there.
