I restarted my computer and got that Program nag again, so the little sheet is still there. I will say this, since we started this thread and I've followed your instructions my computer does start quicker now. It's been fun (in an uber geek kind of way) finding and running these nifty Windows utilities I've never heard of! I saw in your profile a post about Powershell and that there's a new version out. Should I get that?

Did you rerun that command sequence and this time without the space between the dash and the word force?

Might be because you have fewer things in startup.

There is nothing wrong with Avast free , btw. It is the a/v I use and recommend.

Can you see that program file in explorer?

that indicates that presently the file Program does not exist!

Reboot your system and see if the file stays gone.

I recommend using powershell and
dir $env:systemdrive\ -force
to verify that the file is gone or come again.

===========================

Side note: if you want to speed up your shutdown time, you can turn off the hibernate by:
1. go to an elevated command prompt
2. run
POWERCFG -H OFF

Next time you reboot, there will be no 6GB file that needs to be written off before shutdown.

No sweat Karl, I thought I was wrong once, but then someone told me that I was mistaken :sarc:

My $store reading glasses don't seem to work as well as they used to either.
Slarty, You are correct. I was wrong. My eyes were playing tricks on me.
Thanks,

Hi Jack (sorry about that couldn't resist it!)Let me see if I can help you, with your problem. Before I get too involved when you say "Old Submarine Sailor" Is that the submarine that is old or the sailor or possibly both?
Have you sent the master rep some time ago and then no one else before trying to send him more?
