I got XP mode to display 24-bit color with integration!

Glad to hear you got it working! XP Mode is very strange as it did that same exact thing to me in the beginning. Sometimes things work, and sometimes they don't. Sometimes things get stuck in an endless loop of logging in and logging out.

Hopefully Microsoft fixes these problems in the future. And remember to give me a rep if I helped you guys out!

Actually, the absolute easiest method would be to just run the REG file in post #10. Glad it's working out for you.

I found an easier way to get 24 bit colors with integration on here.
1. Run regedit in XP.
2. Navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services].
3. Add a DWORD Value named "ColorDepth" w/o parenthesis.
4. Right-click it, modify, then put "4" in the Value data.
5. Restart XP mode.

On another note, if you clicked the link above, you'll notice that he said 32-bit color is possible with XP mode, but you'll have to make extensive changes to the RDP!

Are there any other applicable values other than 4?

well good question, i tried to experiment with this but i get 8 bit color

If i import the XP mode with VMWare workstation, and increase gfx ram to 64 MB (runs aero on 7 and vista) would i be able to get 32 bit u think?

As long as the integration tools are installed, itl bump up to 32-bit.

Not sure if this is related or not but, when I am in xp-mode I can't install some of my software because it demands an 800x600 screen and no matter what I try I can only get a 16 bit 1024x598. I got it into 24 bit mode as shown here but still can't move the slider from less to more on screen resolution, am I missing something here?
