Hey guys a heads up

Right now all Samsung Galaxy 2.0 7 inch tablets are on sale some stores Frys has them for 199.99

If you go to Microcenter you can order it online for 179.00 I happen to get mine at Frys because you could only order online from MicroCenter and with a bunch of angry talk and talking to the right people they gave me that price

I have to say this Tablet is pretty sweet it has a multitude of features and even controils my TV :D

http://www.frys.com/product/7019281?site=sa:Tablets & iPads Pod:Pod5

Just putting the word out there if anyone out there is looking for a decent tablet that doesn't bottle neck

I have one of those tablets and it's pretty nice but I also have a Google Nexus 7. For that same $199 you could buy a Nexus 7 with a higher resolution screen (1280x800 vs 1024x600), faster processor (quad core vs dual core), twice as much storage (16G vs 8G) and the latest version of Android OS (Jelly Bean vs Ice Cream Sandwich).

The two pluses for the Galaxy Tab 2.0 are that it has a microSD card slot for expanding storage (up to 32G) and both front facing and rear facing cameras.

I have the 10 inch galaxy 2 myself, it's a great tablet. Few complaints really.
I don't like samsung Kies, but you don't have to use it if you don't want to.
The only real complaint I do have is I can't make it understand ntfs even after they updated it to android 4.1

This is something I've done on other android devices without problem, for some reason I can't make it happen with any samsung though.

I loved my GTAB2 when I first got it but after I got the Nexus 7 I rarely used the Samsung so I ended up giving it to my daughter.

That $179 price is pretty good, I paid $250 for my GTAB2 when it first came out. I was able to get my Nexus 7 for $179 thru the discount my son gets from his employer (How's that for a steal?).

One frustrating thing about the microSD card memory expansion on the GTAB2 is that you cannot install or move apps to the card, you can only use it for data storage.

Technically, JB 4.1.1 that the GTAB2 is being upgraded to isn't the latest version, the N7 is currently at JB 4.1.2. That's an advantage to having a Google device, they get the latest OS updates before anyone else. However, 4.1.2 isn't anything to really brag about since it really was just some fixes for problems introduced by 4.1.1.

I was saying it was a steal because i saw the original price so i figured to save almost $ 90.00
bucks it caught my eye in a hurry but as you know all things are getting cheaper who knows might be a super wicked tablet for real cheap one day

Strollin I am very glad you are taking the time to school me on some of this as I'm very new to the Tablet smartphone scene the information you are telling me is very good for future use and yes i find it a problem that the storage is a mess and you basicly have to make files on the SD to supliment space and shift them manually when connected i am using the Kiess to synch but given the files that are synced and back up it is taking forever

I could just pull the SD out and just throw them on there in half the time if you think about it a very useless tool so I think i will say to hell with sycranized back up's and streaming and piut it directly on the SD

also i am probably going to try ripping some of my childs newer movies into a AVI so i can just throw them on not like she has a serious collection but enough to satisfy her needs

PS i want to rep you but the scale is gone so ..if a Handshake is ok with you put it there ...........;)

Instead of using Kies, you can just plug the USB cable of the GTAB2 into a USB port on your computer and copy files over to the SD card directly from your computer, there is no reason to remove the SD card from the tablet.

That reminds me of my biggest complaint of the Galaxy line of tablets, why did Samsung go with a proprietary plug instead of the micro USB most other Android based tablets use?

You can also get what is called an OTG (On The Go) cable for the GTAB2 that plugs into the proprietary plug on the GTAB and provides the ability to plug in a thumb drive or an external hdd, mouse, keyboard, etc... If you plug in a USB hub, you can use a mouse/keyboard and external storage all at the same time. Here's an example: http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=61277. You can find others if you do some searches. Just make sure they are for the Samsung proprietary connector.

it came with that but the transfer is still slow that is why i have a card reader that would do it in half the time the only problem i have right now is waiting for this blasted sync to finish after this never again !

Yup I was right i took the SD out put it in my card Reader set up a movie folder and bam less then 12 minutes 7 full length childrens movies

I must of been on a real good one not to think of doing it that way it must of been all the hype of trying to use these debunked software in hopes of a connection like pc to pc which it is pretty much showing me it's limitations

it came with that but the transfer is still slow that is why i have a card reader that would do it in half the time the only problem i have right now is waiting for this blasted sync to finish after this never again !

You might benefit greatly from a little time spent in the android app store. 90% of what you are wanting is covered by apps. Most of them free.

Guess I shouldn't tell you I only paid $149 for the one I got my daughter for Christmas. :p

She had wanted a Nintendo DS but this seemed like a much better idea, seeing as the tablet can do so much more and you're not stuck on the buying/selling/trading games merry-go-round. Guess it was a good idea as she has been having fun with it.

lol you are killing me smalls hahaha

Well Black friday or Xmas time i was on some other spending venture from Stompies to Woody and Jessie Toy Story Dolls this was a decision made on her playing with my Android phone and her Cousins have a tablet as well

7inch is perfect for a child she doesn't need a massive 10 inch the best part of all of this is the entertainment and learning value it will give my daughter for learning which she has seemed to take a liking to and making it more fun for her

I have atleast 20 free Kid apps i already loaded and some of her pesonal favorites on the SD Technicly though in the very end of this I will have spent more then 179.00 as im going to purchase this Protector OtterBox Defender Series Case for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 77-22228 - Best Buy samsung&cp=1&lp=13 Im going to check if they have it somewhere cheaper also wow looking at the best buy page they have alot of tablets deals but you have to order it and in the end it would be the same price with all the SH&P

Good news I found the way to link Windows 7 and any Android tablet to Homegroup file sharing

Only thing is you will not see it Logged into Homegroup but you will see the Device as a shared device

You want to set your Tablet to near by Devices and open up file sharing FPSSD -FTP

Download ES File Manager then after that there should be a tab in the left hand corner giving you connection types

Local ,Lan ,FTP ,Bluetooth

Use Lan as it is a Direct link after that hit the tab that has + sign for adding a new server hit scan your IP adress should show right up

after this enter in the name and the password to the PC you will be file transfering with

after this it should open up all your shared PC folders like using Homegroup

Now keep in mind when playing videos go for the Biggest buffering size and adjust some of the player settings because the buffering isn't set right so it will be choppy but once the settings have been moded everything else is pure fun

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me on the issue as I just learned how to do this myself and it cuts all the BS out of trying to link swap and save

I don't think ES FileExplorer is using the Homegroup, it is accessing a plain old Windows share. Regardless, it's very useful to be able to access your Windows machines from the tablet, isn't it?

There are actual remote desktop apps too, they are all pay apps so far as I know though.

I use ES myself for streaming videos though and it does just fine.
