Hi. First post. I know that W7HP does not allow network backup so I have a image on a partition. Is there a way to put a copy of that image on another drive (network drive) incase my HDD commits sudden suicide? Then i could just install W7 on a new drive, copy the image to the partition and restore the image. W7 wont let me copy it accross the network. I know there are imaging programs out there but I was just going simple like. Thanks!

Use Acronis

Acronis True Image Home has been a godsend for me for years.

I was messing around with changing drive letters yesterday and screwed up my boot drive so i re-installed 7 on that partition and simply installed Acronis first thing and restored from an image I saved from my original setup.

I keep two updated images ....on seperate hdd's in case of failure. With all my programs and all it shows as 22 Gbs in properties, which Acronis compresses to 8.5 Gbs.

Best software I have ever used.

Oh yeah...Acronis lets you make a boot disc which brings up the Acronis so you can make your image without having to enter Windows. I have found this to be the best way to go, as Acronis requires a re-boot of course if you want to back up your image to the operating system partition you are using. Most of the time when you use the reboot method or the disc, you have to control/alt/delete and let it reboot again just to get things rolling. You'll see what I mean if you go this route.

Good luck

Extra front intake fan installed in two of my 5.2" bays which blows directly into my Freezer Pro CPU fan. Dropped temp nearly 10c.
I move my images around the network for storage and reimaging purposes all the time.

Remember if Win7 becomes irreparable, you can still browse to the image and reimage from another Primary partition as long as the HD is still good.

Otherwise you'll need to plug the image in on an external to reimage the target machine as only Ultimate or Pro have the reimaging over a network (which is like pulling teeth).
