I need help with resolving backup failures

My computer is a Dell XPS 8300 with Windows 7, 64 bit.

Every time I backup my computer it gives me a backup failure notice which reads, "Windows backup failed while trying to read from the shadow copy of one of the volumes being backed up. Please check in the event logs for any relevant errors."

I have very little computer experience and I have tried various options to resolve this problem but it still continues fail when I try to backup my computer.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

First thing I would try is running CHKDSK on every "drive" that you are trying to back up. You can do that by Clicking on Computer in the start area, right-clicking every "drive" icon, selecting Properties, then selecting Tools, then selecting Error Checking.
