So I was getting stuttering and lagging issues ever since yesterday and so I was finally like fine okay I'll reinstall Windows and my disc reader wasn't working properly so I had to use a torrent. I've been having the disc check on startup and every time it tried finishing it would freeze on the last step and so I tried reinstalling I then get errors about my c:\$ something being corrupt and it's gotten so bad I can't even load up safe boot mode because installation got errors due to c:\$ or whatever and I can't enter the desktop and I can't do anything but enter system recover I've tried reinstalling windows 7 using my disc but every time I try to boot using the boot from disc or rom it just continues into a normal boot still checking for the disk. I've had 0 hard drive issues until the computer started scanning for the disc because every time it tried to it would freeze and keep ruining my files pretty much. So my laptop doesn't recognise my CD and my laptop is pretty much worthless right now I need MAJOR help please.:sleepy:

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,

I would power off and remove the battery
After that hold down the power button for at least 1 minute (power drain)

You can let it sit that way over night or power it back up and try to get to the bios with tapping the F2 key

Once in the bios disable fast or quick startup,
Make sure the cd/dvd drive is first boot device,
Save and exit.
Continue tapping the F10 or F12 key it might be the F8 key for the one time boot menu list.

Hi,
You might look into how to reset you CMOS on your mother board :/
It varies in exact processes
Some you can remove the mother board battery for a little while
Others there is a trip switch to do it or swapping a wire connection to another port ?

Just thinking aloud...

This statement has me concerned: "...so I had to use a torrent."
What exactly does this mean? Did you create a Windows installation disk from a torrent source?

You stated: "...tried reinstalling windows 7 using my disc but every time I try to boot using the boot from disc or rom it just continues into a normal boot..."
Where did you get the disc? Was it from the torrent you mentioned? Is it a retail Windows disk from Microsoft?

I ask as I'm thinking if you created the disk, did you have a Microsoft source and did you burn it so it is bootable?

I recommend burning a live (bootable) Linux such as Puppy Linux and see if it boots to Linux. If it does then you know your hardware and BIOS settings are OK.

If you can boot into Linux, use it to delete the problem directory on the hard drive and go from there.

Regards,
GEWB
