I am trying to delete a folder from an external hard drive.
The folder is named as 19ed928996bd5770992a.
The folder was there for some time.
It is created from probably an incomplete operation, or similar thing.
When I try to delete it, I am getting an error:

You need to get permission from Machine/"The Only Admin and User"*

*Think of it as username.

As mentioned, I am the only user, I am the only admin.

How can I solve this?

Nice avatar! I like his movies a lot! Have you seen the Lodger?

I know about that take ownership shortcut, thanks to this forum.
I am the owner of the main folder, and there around 30 subfolders.
Anyway that I can take ownership of all at the same time, or I have to do that one by one?

Taking ownership of the top level folder should suffice.

The lodger, yes. One heck of a movie.

Well, it doesn't work.
I am the owner of the top folder.
And the error is saying that I need to take permission from myself.
Let's say my username is Alfred.

"You need to take permission from Alfred-PC/Alfred to perform this operation".

This is an external hard drive. Do I have to take ownership of the hard drive also? Current Owner of the hard drive is System. But I shouldn't have to, Administrators have full control. But whatever solves the problem. I am trying to give myself the full control of the drive now, it is taking time though.

Yes, I know it is a heck of a movie!

Why is System the owner of the external drive? Normally an external would just have user data and not some OS installed on it. If thats the case, go ahead and take ownership of the entire drive.

Also, after taking ownership, did you check what permissions you actually have? You may need to give yourself full permissions explicitly.

There is no OS on it.
But I use this drive for synchronization and Clonezilla backups.
(I think that that folder was created because of an incomplete syncronization or cloning).
And also, I am using this drive on 3 operating systems.
So, I don't know if there is anything related to that.
I will try to take the ownership of the drive and will inform about the results.

I had to click each subfolder to access it.
After that I was able to erase the folder.

I know this new security and sharing options are better than just "Everyone", but there must be another way to use and share the data without going into these problems. Especially when using the "shared data" in different operating systems. But since I don't have anything to put on the table(a better option), I am not complaining.

Thanks for your help.

Instead of watching a hundred movies made in 2011, I would prefer to watch The Lodger and other Hitchcock movies. No effect, but life is in it completely!

It is already removed after I accessed each single folder.
But thank you very much for the link for that program.
