I no longer remember my windows password on Win7

Hi there my friend has problem. His kid changed the password on both of the Administration accounts on the his laptop. I have read on google that i could recover it by using a program called .. Offline NT Password and Registry editor . . I put that on thumb drive and booted it and went through the step in order to remove the password, but when i rebooted it and tried to login to the locked user it was no go.

Can anyone give me suggestion on the right path to remove and reset is passwords, so laptop is usable again. I just need a program that can remove a windows 7 password.
