I reinstalled windows 7 (activated), can i restore files from a clone?

can i make a system image without having to wipe the destination hard drive? i want to make the clone of the activated windows but i don't have a free harddrive i can use. is there a way to partition it in a harddrive, that has enough space? it's only about 168GB. but its the activated version of windows. thank you.

Make a system image (a backup) instead of clone. Simply restore the image later.

ended up making a clone. i had to get a second harddrive from a friend and just copied and deleted until i got it on the right harddrive. i managed to get everything going and working. the only problem i have now is when i boot my computer, before windows starts, it asks me what windows version i want to start. there's two windows 7's. ??? any way to fix it?

Post screenshot of disk management please with all fields visible. It looks like the boot manager is on another disk.

What happens if you boot the first win7 in the list? Is that the one you want to keep?

i forgot to add that the other windows 7 is an old version i don't need. i thought i made a backup but it seems like a clone. i can boot from it.

Boot to the win7 instance you want to delete from boot menu. Then from http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/783-elevated-command-prompt.html

bcdedit/delete  {current}

Command successful? Reboot. Now there's only one menu option. Because there's only one ... the boot manager doesn't even ask which you what to start.
