I think i have a RAM error

Hi, So i have had my comp for over a year now (custom built) and now i am getting a couple of Blue screen errors. MEMORY MANAGEMENT and IRQL IS NOT LESS OR EQUAL. Either appear (not at the same time) after the comp has been running for an hour or two weather I am playing games or have just left it in stand by. Is this a RAM error? any help would be appreciated.
Attached is my "minidump" folder, pls help

Yoou seem to have several related problems. All harware


I wold start by downloading memtestx86 and run it for 5 passes

and run a system file check
(type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow)

Let us know the results

Hi, thanks for the info. I performed both the tests, the system file check turned up : "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations" and i ran the memtest86 version 3.2 for 18 passes and it didn't turn up any errors. Please, anymore help would be appreciated.

yes To test memory I get consistent results by burning to CD (using an ISO burner) & running from boot memtest86+ for at least 5 passes and moving the sticks between slots to verify motherboard ram slots work as well as the ram sticks.

I recall seeing a few BSOD dumps naming your anti-virus as the probable cause. I think it was AVG or Avast. Remove it and install Microsoft security Essentials.

Create a restore point.
Restore your system to a restore point when the system worked.

If you are now getting error msgs using a restore point where everything worked flawlessly previously, then you have hardware problems. However, the problems could be caused by other hardware you've added or other hardware causing problems.


If the system works like a champ using the restore point from times past, then your problems are caused by software or hardware which you installed since the trouble-free times.

I just recalled: Before you start creating/restoring restore points and so forth. CHECK YOUR FANS and VENTS. Heat is a big enemy. If this is a laptop, then don't use it on your lap or laying on your bed since this will block the circulation and result in the computer running hot.

Hi, thats what i did, i burnt the iso to a cd using nero and went to BIOS selected CD first in boot sequence, it ran the test did 18 passes and nothing turned up (this was last night) now today, in the past 2 hours i have gotten 3 BCOD saying "system has encountered a uncorrectabe hardware error" and the speakers make a weird stuttering noise. I dont remember getting this error before, my boot sequence back to normal and i im getting this error. Please help

Hi there thanks for the support guys
TO jcgriff2: i did the sp2 prep work and i am now updated to sp2 after making sys restore point. I uninstalled hamachi and daemon tools lite (couldn't find the Alcohol or TAGES ones in start search or uninstall/remove programs list). I have done the cmd sfc which was fine and i haven't ever had AVG on machine and Avast is up to date.
TO karlsnooks: The earliest restore point on my machine (that i can see) is sometime in feb (with the more than 5 days ago option checked) and i have been having issues since way before that. It seems that my comp automatically makes restore points daily (up to 3 times somedays).
I may try testing my RAM individually now and just another thing, my RAM is ddr2 corsair dominator twin total of 4gb. It came with a cooling fan that was shipped without stands to attach it to the actual RAM. could it be overheating perhaps?

I don't know the answer to your question, but if the ram came with a fan, then I'd install the fan if such is physically possible on your computer.

An idea would be to visit the site of the supplier of your ram and see if they have any insight as to whether the fan is necessary or not.

I have had my comp on for a good 5 hours now without any problems, i think it was the update to sp2. I have made a enquiry to corsair about the RAM fan and am waiting for them to reply on the case. Thankyou all that helped and i will post back if the problem persists =]

Hey, i just left my computer to watch a movie (lasted about 2h), it went into standby or something, then i come back and click the mouse the wake it and the comp powers up then i got a BCOD error MEMORY MANAGEMENT (dump file attached) and comp restarted. I think it has to be corrupt RAM, i am still waiting for reply from corsair about the 'case' i submitted. What else could it be? i have tried everything suggested except the cleanup utility(which i will do now) for the programs i couldn't find and removing and testing the RAM individually-this wont stuff anything up will it if its ment to be with the 'twin' pair or anything? any further help would be appreciated

Did you go to the Microsoft Genuine Advantage site and validate your OS installation? I ask because the version/ version #'s on some modules related to security seem "off".

Run the latter - you can see the results for yourself. No personal information is transmitted to MS.

Hi guys, so its been about a week and i am still getting BSOD errors, my system is genuine and i am still trying to resolve it with corsair. I just wanted to say that I was just testing the ram again then with memtest and I did something different. In memtest I went to configuration - memory sizing and selected BIOS –all. It turned up a total of 504 errors with a failing address or 000fec00000. Is this why I’m getting the errors?

I would say no ............

to quote from the official forum for memtest86
Problems Running Memtest

- When I select BIOS-ALL I get many errors or my machine crashes.

This is normal. With todays computers this option should never be selected.
When selecting BIOS-ALL memtest will ignore the e820 memory map supplied by
the BIOS and will also test areas reserved by the BIOS for the processor or
the BIOS. See the question about which memory is test for more information
on this.
