I LOVE building computers :) how much do you want to spend, and what do you want it do do?

Kinda kidding, but you do need to be specific for something like this...

I have the itch for a new PC, but i ask myself, why...

For a real performance boost get yourself a solid state drive first and an i7 CPU second - other than that, what you have is pretty good.

If you stick to the PC you want, you may have to ignore the cash.
If you can figure out the spec you need, you may spend less. ;)

if your PC does not do something well enough for you now, such as a new game, post that info - what is the problem with your current PC?

for people i support, most often those that want a new PC just need a re-install of the OS to clean up bloatware and "junk" installed over time...

well, DW7.. it is clear to me you know stuff.
Simply, I see that what I have is not enough.
I just want a better , faster computer.

If you do not sit and think about what you want your new pc to do that your present pc does not you will most probably spend money for something that you really do not need.

If you have a desktop why not share more specifics beginning with your motherboard.

You say that your current pc is not enough. What do you mean? It's not enough to do what? What is it that you want to do? You say that you want a faster computer. I think you would agree that you don't necessarily need a new pc in order to have a faster pc. You already have 6GB of RAM!

Maybe the tasks that you want to perform or the games that you want to play will only require a slight improvement upon the pc you already have.
It is always possible to buy or build a pc that can do more than the one you have but the question is, is it necessary?

If it is that you have some extra cash and you just want a new pc, well, that's a different story and one that I can easily understand as I've been there myself. But even if this is the case, first sit and think and plan. Buying a new pc should incorporate tomorrow's needs as well as today's in so far as that is possible.

For what purpose?

You may be disappointed with any processor upgrade. There are better ones than a core I5, but for most purposes it may not be obvious.

Using an SSD for the boot drive may make things feel zippier.

If you want to play high-end games, get a better graphics card. That'd be the most significant upgrade.

If your main goal is bragging rights, get a system with a Socket 2011 I7-3960X CPU, Asus Rampage IV Extreme motherboard, 8X8 GB DDR3-2400 RAM, dual 512GB SSDs in RAID 0, three or four Radeon HD 7970 graphics cards for Crossfire, etc. Water cooling, but of course. You can climb to the top of the hardware heap - for about three months.

I do sit and think. (see profile)
I haven't yet figured out how to fill in all the specs, but I will. ( I will make a concentrated effort to fill in the correct details)
I don't play computer games. Merely, I don't want to wait, even a millisecond for a page to open..a program to load. An Antivirus program to run at 90 mb sec., when it could run at 3gig per sec.
You say.." is it necessary ? " Of course not.

Add more RAM !! Add a Solid State Drive. Buy an i7.

But really yours is fine.
What? Why would you tell him to buy an i7? It's just an i5 with hyperthreading which in most cases will actually reduce performance.

@OP - More RAM, SSD, overclock your CPU and add a 2nd video card.

If you don't play games then just overclock your CPU and add an extra 2 GB of RAM and overclock that.
Alternatively, switch to a Linux OS and put 16GB of RAM in.

I want a real powerfull computer.

What are you going to do the day after you get this "real powerful computer" and discover there is something "better" or more "powerful" out there and that you spent all that money only to fall short.

Sounds to me like you won't be satisfied, regardless of what you buy.

Unless, of course, you are just having some fun with us.

Look, of course I like to engage with people that know a LOT about computers.
But, I know that I know very little.
Simply, I want good and expert advice with regard to having a better and faster computer.
I am not satisfied with having the computer as it stands now. To me, it is way too slow, albeit, it is all I can afford right now.
No mistake, there are no hiccups in my system. I run a real clean clean computer, I don't even store files. I don't allow files nor baggage to dwell in my PC. I have spent years studying antivirus and malware. I even know how to fix other peoples computers.
But what I don't know, are some of the most simple tasks of a computer.
So , when I ask, it's only because I don't know. And when you tell me, then I know.
