Okay.
I did say that an extended partition uses up one of the primary (as in, 4 primary and the extended takes up a primary).
Anyways; I had based all that stuff I said off stuff I had read awhile ago.
I thought I had mentioned about how an extended partition offers multiple logical partitions inside it though (I was just saying GPT is the only way for more than 4 primary partitions). Something like that.
An MBR disk supports up to four primary partitions, not five. An "extended partition" is actually one of those four allowed primary partitions repurposed to contain any number of "logical" partitions sub-defined inside of it.
