i3 processor upgrade help needed

im planning to upgrade my processor from an Intel Core 2 Duo to a Intel Core i3! i have no idea whether my computer will support a core i3. Please tell me how to search for a core i3 that is compatible with my motherboard! I am also willing to make any other upgrades as possible (not the GPU and Motherboard though, they are integrated) so here are some info about Current CPU, Current GPU, Current RAM and Current Motherboard:

Your computer will not support an i3. You would need to get a new motherboard with new RAM therefore, this isn't going to work. Additionally, is this a laptop? If so, then you wouldn't be able to upgrade this as laptops are very constricted in what you can put in. For the most part, the only thing you can upgrade is the RAM (to add more) and sometimes the hard drive but that's about it.

That's sad :( what aspect of the motherboard makes it incompatible?

And yes you are right this is a laptop but I can guarantee I can replace it myself

The socket P your motherboard uses would not work as the Arrandale CPUs (Core i3, i5, and i7 Mobile) use the µPGA-989 socket for the CPU.

woah thanks! btw is that the only incompatibility? i heard from a thhread here that i need a DDR3 RAM aswell! is that right in my case? Also, does the Core i3 provide much better than my current graphics chip?

It would technically be better graphics but not all that much better. In regard to DDR3, that is also a problem because i3s require it and since your motherboard only does DDR2, that would definitely be another limitation.
