i7-875k Overclocking help please

I have an i7-875k and gigabyte p55A-ud7 motherboard .. both of which I was told are great for overclocking. I have tried just a small overclock with no success .. I cannot get it to boot into windows . I have tried upping the multiplier from 22x and tried upping the bclk from 133 to 135 still no go on the boot. What do I have to do to get some sort of OC ... it is something I want to do now just to prove I can lol.

I am using a corsair H50 cooler and my temps are not a problem. Any ideas are welcome.

Well after a lot of blue screens I have managed to get it running at 3.920 ghz from its stock speed of 2.93 ghz it seems stable after doing a few tests.

with that much of an oc, be sure to keep an eye on your temps...

Update
By decreasing the multiplier to 20X but increasing the BCLK to 200mhz I am now running at 4 ghz on a 2.93 ghz chip. Been running fine for couple days now. I left all other settings on "auto".

Have you run any stress programs like Prime95 Download - Softpedia? Have you checked your load temps - Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring

It's one thing to run at 4gig with the system doing nothing, it's entirely another thing to run at 4gig with a load at reasonable temps.

BTW this usually doesn't mean stable....

I left all other settings on "auto".

If you're OC to 4gig, "auto" usually equals unstable as you'd normally have to "manually" up some voltages.

The ram ratio is also something to make sure of. Some gigabyte boards have a preset setting you select according to your fsb.

Under load ... Prime 95 after couple of hours still running fine with temps reaching just on 75 degrees. Also used Linx with no problems have benchmarked with Vantage and Furmark all ran with no problems. Monitored temps with both core and real temps. My ram is running at 1600. Am getting Corsair H70 as soon as they come in stock and also replacing stock case fans with coolermaster 140mm ones to help with airflow.
