At some point recently an not at my behest all Desktop Icon Settings were selected and the Computer, User`s File, Network and Control Panel icons popped up on my desktop. Fortunately all I had to do was learn about the Desktop Icon Settings utility and I could get shot of them again.

Not so cool was that at the same time a Libraries icon also appeared and this does not appear on any utils ot options that I can see, and unlike all the others it has no delete option. Nor can it be dropped in the recycle bin or anywhere else for that matter.
It does open up Windows Explorer when left clicked, but the only right click options are :- Open, Restore Default Icons, Copy and Create Shortcut.

I want it gone. Sfc /scannow reports no errors, Regcure & WiseReg & CCleaner say I`m good to go as well.
And now I`m going to uninstall Zonealarm so I can try to get system restore working.
All said, why`s it there? And where did it come from?

Yet again, HELP Please, Stoo

A screenshot would help. When you right click and choose properties, what does it show (again screenshot best). Try this, drag it to the taskbar, and choose to pin to Explorer. If it will pin, and leaves the desktop, then right click and choose to unpin. That might make it disappear. A Guy

Thanks for replying. Got rid of it by restoring back. Had to go back a long way too. Much further than when it appeared too, but it went.

As for pinning to the task bar, it wouldn`t do anything except open up win explorer.

It was exactly the same as if the libraries in the explorer navigation pane was dragged and dropped onto the desktop, except with limited options and no delete or pin to anywhere. And it wasn`t a shortcut either. Nor was there an option to open folder location.
