Hi,
Every time I startup my machine a number of icons are placed on the desktop.
And each time I dutifully remove them.
However next time I startup, there they are back again.

This is clearly a company "policy" but I never use these icons.

Can anyone help me as to what I can do to stop these appearing every time?

Thanks.

What are the icons that appear on your Desktop? By the way, In Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings, have you UNchecked: Show hidden files and folders?

If you delete the icons, whatever program is associated with them is sticking them back again. I've not seen this before, but that's by the by. Further to Imperfect1's answer, if you select to hide them in their properties, rather than repeatedly deleting them, they shouldn't be replaced as their program sees that they are still there, albeit, you can't see them.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try hiding them.

Imperfect1 - they're shortcuts to intranet/internal sites.
I think some startup script is putting them there I just cannot find where this script might live...

Do an ADVANCED search for the script(s) by searching multiple key words that will identify the files. Be sure to search your entire system, not just the indexed locations, and check the box that says: "Include non-indexed, hidden, and system files."
