I've never experienced that in previous versions of windows. It's weird.
Even if i use the more options button of any folder to drag the cursor
from content to extra large icons, i cannot reach the perfection & accurate
display of icons that my desktop offers .. .

You can see my *.txt icon on my desktop with proper lines (sinking.txt)
& the one in a directory (noise.txt) with lines that aren't symetric &
don't respect the original icon .. . & changing size view of
folder icons doesn't help .. .

Bill Gates ??

I'm not sure what you are getting at but I think you are confusing program icons (on your desktop) with file icons in the folders you show. They are just a different set of icons. If you look at the folders containing those programs with explorer the icons are the same as on the desktop.

Its the noise.txt icon in explorer and the seeking.txt shortcut on the desktop screen are not quite the same theres a small amount of detail missing.I couldn't even see any difference until I got the magnifying glass out but my eyes aren't great:sarc:

Yes Danny. I see what you mean the one in the folder is definitely not as clear. Neither of them look like the standard text file icon either.

No I agree Kadu.If he has a custom icon possibly doesn't have all the icon sizes. He's already stated he had used the scroll option on the desktop to play with the sizes so its possible the desktop one is 1 or 2 pixels bigger/smaller and that could be the difference in quality.

Your first comment explicitely shown the fact you hadn't understood the issue kado, your second comment makes me believe you know understand the issue .. . & yes danny, "small amount of detail missing", but for me, it's not an excuse to leave this weird difference the way it is actually, no respect of original icons forms outside the desktop .. . & i rebuilt the icon cache even though i had the intiamte conviction that it would have been vain, for the simple reason that when icons are corrupted, they usually appear as much corrupted in one folder as another one, for the same corrupted icon .. . so that didn't fix the prob .. .

You get a better quality if you stick to the standard sizes in the ICO file.

The problem is ...... . whatever level i choose to modify my icon in the folder's appearance, it never reaches the
original icon size & form ....... . only the desktop respects it. "i played with the scroll button to fix it", the original size & form wasn't respected in the beginning. Either i have one icon in my non live icon file or more, folders should be able to display original icon file form & size & i should be able to retrieve it through that scroll bar, no ?

if no, it's a windows bug.

The scroll tick on your mouse may not be fine enough to do that but I agree that if you select a pre-defined size and your icons are of standard size the detail should be the same.

danny, it's not my single icon "icon file", it does that with other icons too. it's the way windows should display it & its size .. . so does that mean all i can do is makes prayers every night addressing my torments to mr Gates hoping he'll return to microsoft & fix it in windows 10 or 13 ? lol

Sorry guys

It's not a windows issue but probably a missing option.
I realized were the real issue was .. .

So .. .

In more options button of explorer, when i play with the scrollbar,
my first aim is to have icons displayed the way they were in win98 or
xp .. . Where the icon should be Above the text, like when you select
the medium icons, just a bit lower (not small icons).

But when i reach this type of disposition, it affects the icon size too .. .

& the right & original icon size can only be obtained if i drag the ucrsor
to the "content" preview .. .

But i do not want that type of display that only aligns icons one by one
& doesn't allow rows & text is on the side & not under .. .

Scrolling when more icons can be contained in a window is not intelligent .. .

Windows new fix to be planned: windows should respect original icon size if icons are not live.
