Icons extending out - please help.

Hello, I just recently came back on this computer. One of my family members were saving informations and documents, it filled half my desktop. I tried saving all of them in a folder to save more space on my desktop, then I accidentally clicked create shortcut, which copied all of them, and icons from the right extended where I cant reach them from this computer. I tried getting stuff like important folders back but I really don't know how to get stuff that extended far right. I tried resetting and nothing worked. What should I do to get them back on the desk top?

Edit: If the type of program is wondered, I'm using Windows 7.

you could use windows explorer an navigate to "desktop". there all the folders/files will be displayed.
