I just did a clean reinstall of Windows 7 (from a restore partition) on my HP Envy 14 Laptop. Everything is working fine, bu icons are missing in Windows Explorer. See attached PDF.

All service packs, including SP1, have been installed.

I would greatly appreciate some advice on how to get the original icons back in place.

Thanks to all.

Doug

Brink,

Thanks for your reply. I tried that prior to my post, with no effect.

I finally decided to go back to square one and reinstall the Win7 image. I think I found the problem. My laptop came with Stardock Colors, a desktop theme application. On the reinstall of Windows, I installed that application's desktop theme and the icons started to go bad again. When I went back to the standard windows desktop, everything was - and still is - A-OK.

So, it has been a lesson hard-learned. When something say's "recommended," view it with skepticism!

Thanks again,

Doug
