icons spacing

hello, i'm new here.
i've recently migrated to W7 ultimate from XP SP2 and a there are quite a few things that i find hard getting used to.
one of those is spacing between the icons in system tray - it's too big. is there any way to "squeeze" them? i don't want to hide them, i like to have them all shown (there is about ten icons), but they take too much space on taskbar.

You may increase the number of icons that can be accommodated in the taskbar by increasing the height of the taskbar. Simply drag the taskbar upside to increase the width. I don’t think there is a way to reduce the space between taskbar icons.
