Hi all,

I've looked around for this, but I can't seem to find an answer, so it might just be one of those things that happens on some setups, but anyway...

I have a 360, a netbook with XP and a desktop with Windows 7 Ult 32bit (PC's connected via Wireless to an wPN824). I'm having problems with lag when using ICS on the desktop setup. When I had XP on it, I could play with no real noticable lag, and I can do the same on my netbook but since I installed7, using ICS on the desktop is a nightmare. My ping goes off the chart (on the 360), and it is impossible to play online (although I can watch skyplayer, download stuff etc), I get massive, massive lag spikes but I'm loathe to call them spikes as they happen most of the time!

Using the ICS on the XP netbook is fine and I dont get any more really noticable lag than when I've had it the 360 wired to the router directly. I'd do this all the time, but it's made all the more annoying by the fact I use my PC monitor to play on my 360, so when I'm using the 360 it basically uses two computer setups and my GF can't use anything at all!

Anybody had any experience of this? Is it better to bridge the connection between my ethernet and my wireless on the desktop? I tried that but couldn't get any real connection from the PC when bridged. The 360 seemed to know it was there, but internet was a no no.

Testing the ping of the desktop, it's very good. Playing on Steam etc, it's brilliant, but sharing the connection on 7 just seems to not work. I'm not paying £40 for a wireless adaptor and not sure the gf would like metres and metres of CAT5 trailing around the place!

Thanks in advance for any help/tips/advice!

Thanks for the reply acurasd!

I'm looking at the pages though, and not sure if I want to have it limited or unlimited? I assume ICS is a system task, so would want to be more highly reserved, but when I use the 360 and ICS, I never have other programs running, beyonds what W7 has going on in the background.

It's a good place to start though, and was interesting reading regardless. When I get time I'll try a couple of different settings and see what the results are. I have 20MB cable and the desktop receives from the router via a 54mbps dongle.

Thanks again!

You're a star!

I changed it to 50% and no more lag. The link said I'd have to restart my PC for it to take effect, but it didn't ask me to, so I didn't.

It also seemed to clear up my bridging problems too funnily enough (not sure it has, might just be coincedence). So now I have wireless 360 options to spare!

Thanks again acurasd!

Oh yeah no problem... if you wouldn't mind....

hit me up with some rep on it..

and to be perfectly honest... that was a lucky guess on my part. but I knew it had something to do with the Quality of Service but I am glad that my first guess helped out alot for you.
