Hi Everyone,

I have a new motherboard (Maximus v Gene) and I've brought a Icy Box (IB-865) card reader to make use of the USB 3 connector on the motherboard. However the unit works well for a dozen reboots and then it malfunctions. After a dozen reboots the Icy Box power light no longer powers up and the storage cards I plug into the unit no longer show up in windows. The only way i can resolve the issue is to open up the case and unplug and plug the unit back in. Its not faulty as i've retunred one unit thinking it was faulty but the same fault as reappeared on the new unit. I've tried upgrading and downgrading the BIOS and playing with a few settings but no joy. Can anyone think of anything i can try without having to keep opening up the case?

Thanks in advance :)

It could be that it gets put to sleep for no good reason (it happens), try the following:

Go to your Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > and click on the "Device Manager" button.

In the Device Manager window, find the item or items labeled "Universal Serial Bus controllers." Open it, and double-click the first item called "USB Root Hub."

In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog, click on the "Power Management" tab.

"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked by default.

Uncheck this box, and click "OK."

Repeat for all "Universal Serial Bus controllers." items if there is more than one.
