When I click on the Internet Explorer button a blank screen appears with the blue revolving circle in it and after a few seconds the blank window closes. I am connected to the network as I am still receiving mail. Does anyone have any ideas as to why IE is not working?

Hi ThrashZone,

I tried running Internet Explorer (No Add-ons), Using software rendering instead of GPU rendering, running Internet Explorer as an administrator, resetting Internet Explorer settings to the original settings but I still had the same results. Is there anything else I can Try?

Thanks

Yes IE11 did work. I reset it to IE10 but it did not work either.

I added the Run box to the Start menu and pasted C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe in it but IE just did the same thing (white screen and shut down after a few seconds)

I tried safe mode with networking and IE10 worked.

I reset to normal mode and tried IE again and we got the white screen and then shutdown after a few seconds.

Thanks,
Well safe mode with networking would disable AVG and a host of other third party programs and also Viruses....
Unfortunately AVG has made a version that they say is compatible with the 64 bit version of Internet explorer so that's why activating Enhanced Protection Mode didn't do anything positive and also even why No add-ons mode via the run box did nothing positive,
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/280434-internet-explorer-10-enable-32-bit-64-bit-ie10-windows-7-a.html
All I can suggest now is to use a couple of free scanners and Uninstall AVG,
http://www.avg.com/us-en/utilities
Review Jacee’s instructions to run Adwcleaner here,
Ignore the title of the thread,
http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/316404-instant-savings-app.html#post2638545

You can use these free tools to see if they find anything,
Manually Update them before running full scans,
Try not to use your computer while the scans are running, (one at a time of course).
Uncheck the box to Activate the Free trial from the final install options,
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
http://www.superantispyware.com/?tag=SUPERANTISPYWARE
This one is the longest up to 4 hours, the others are only about 45 minutes,

Hi ThrashZone,

I changed to safe mode with networking and started IE10, then downloaded Adwcleaner and ran it the way Jacee said to. I then changed back to normal mode and started IE10 and it ran normally. I did not remove AVG but I will run the other malware and antispyware programs you suggested.

So it looks as if things are back to normal.:D

Thank you,

Keith8

Thanks for the update,
Post the text report Adwcleaner generated so we can see what it found and cleaned,
You should repeat the scans in regular start as well,
Cheers.
