Hello,

I noticed that a few days ago whenever I would go into Gmail and type a character into the search box I would get a pop-up that says - View and Track downloads. Everytime I type a character the pop-up comes back up. It's very annoying and this started aprox 2-3 days ago. I'm running WINDOWS 7 with Internet Explorer (IE) 9.0. I run anti-virus and spyware programs daily that empty my cache and delete all my cookies. Can someone please help me to get rid of this pesky problem? I have tried a few of your Microsoft Mr. Fix-it scans with no luck. Thanks in advance for your help!

First recheck system for malware/spyware in safemode doing full scans. Then disalbe any browser add-ons you maybe using. Then reset IE9 to default settings. The verify if issue is still present.

Thank you for your prompt response. Would it be possible for you to provide me details as to how to start in Safe Mode, check for spyware/malware, reset IE9 to default settings, etc? I'm somewhat technical and can follow directions but I'm not as technical as you. I appreciate your help!

Dear Bassfisher,

The info you have posted is extremely helpful. Thank you very much. I have reviewed all the information and I'm going to have my IT administrator come over to assist me. He's very busy right now so it may be a few weeks before I can reply back to you but I will do so. Please leave this ticket open until you hear back from me as I would like to resolve this issue. I appreciate your assistance.

There is a much simpler answer!

I found a real answer that is so simple! Hover over the round "gear" icon in the upper right of your Gmail window; it will say "Settings." Click on Settings in the drop-down menu. About 5 items down is the Browser Connection setting, where you can choose to "Always use https."

I hope it works for you like it did for me!

Problem Resolved - Conflict With IE 9 & Gmail

Hello,

I had my IT administrator come over today and he ran: AVG, SuperAntispyware, Malaware Bytes, and Hijackthis. He found no malaware, spyware, or viruses. As a last ditch effort he installed Mozilla Firefox and made it the default browser and the problem with the Gmail search window where it constantly showed View and Track downloads whenever any character was typed in has gone away. Everything is working fine now. It appears to be a problem with Internet Explorer 9 working with Gmail. Please close this case out. Thank you.
