IE: Message From Webpage

Happy New Year to you all..Randomly I will see this pop-up message, and this will appear when I attempt to close IE. I was just wondering why this should happen, now like what I stated this will not show every time but when I close it randomly.

Just like the Upgrade to Win-10 popup message it's generated by the webpage so you might ask them

Thank you for responding..I only ever open IE to look at the front cover news articles really, I don't use it for anything else. Nor' do I type in the address bar. And from all the years that I have known IE That was the first time I discovered that pop up, but just a few days ago. I was wondering what caused it. So all in all, it's perfectly normal?

Hi,
FWIW I did not get that particular popup message but I use Pale moon 64 bit
But did get the win-10 popup upon entry.

Try to edit the link you use to msn to be https.
Or delete it and use the link I posted to open msn and make a shortcut out of it

Hi Swizz,
couple of thoughts have you sync'ed your Outlook(hotmail) account recently in your other browsers settings?.
If it was me I'd turn off IE in progs/features>> Turn features on/off, (top left).
Change my homepage to BBC.co.uk, (and put premier league on bookmarks toolbar, to see LiverHampton).

This is how we solved their problem: Although the situation you describe can be very annoying, the reasoning behind this feature is sound. Consider a site where you’re typing in a large amount of text, such as an email or filling in a long form. It could be even more annoying to inadvertently close the window with a single click and lose all of your typing. In this case, the feature gives you a chance to go back and submit or save your work before losing it, forever. For this reason, you should think carefully about disabling this feature.

Unfortunately, some web pages that utilize this feature have bad code and it will ask if you want to stay or leave even without any interaction from you, and it can happen to any browser at any time.

It has gotten better over the years, there were sites that no matter how many times you clicked on leave this page, the page would not release you to go back, if you ever find yourself in that situation there are ways in the link I provided and in the links found in the google search below, but the easiest is to go to Task Manager and end that particular browser session.
