IE slow on pent 4 computer!!

hey folks I am building a donor computer for a family who can't afford a computer and I am experiencing slowness on IE 10/11 where the CPU runs at 100% this computer isn't that bad and I can't see why IE is slow and youtube vids are choppy even in 480!! this is insane lol :shock::shock::shock: this is a clean machine so no viruses, so what could the problem be?

SPECS:
Compaq Presario SR1300NX
windows 7 (runs great!)
cpu: AMD semprom 3000 2.0Ghz
ram: 2gb ddr PC2700
60GB 7200rpm
video card: ATI x1950 512gb AGP
power supply: 350W

Maybe an Ethernet driver problem. Run this program (when it spikes) and see whether you have any red spiles. Then read what it says below the spikes.

thx for the reply, I tried the app and it is green across the board with no red spikes...I think it might have something to do with adobe flash player...I was looking online and several people are having trouble. everything else is working great on the rig.

That at least assures you that the drivers are OK. But you are right, the Flash Player can be troublesome.

ok, I'm very convinced that IE 10/11 are power hogs! I reinstalled win7 and it had IE 9 and it worked a lot faster, now that I did all the updates and I'm at IE11 it is slow again! this is just nuts how much IE11 sucks juice! also chrome isn't any better! I know newer computers are cheaper and stronger but you shouldn't need a DUAL core minimum to be able to run IE! wondering what I can do to speed things up or atleast make IE tolerable?

I would get rid of IE11 - nothing but problems. IE 10 is fine.

I did not really notice that. But I have a muscular system. Maybe different on the one you are talking about.

Try a clean start to confirm it is IE and not a conflict.

If the behavior continues in a clean start, try to confirm it isn't an extension or add-on

thanks, but I already turned off toolbar/extensions and it is still slow and choppy, but I will try the clean start and see what that does...

How about trying Chrome. That is usually quite fast. Or is the IE absolutely needed.
