IE10, Long time in, Good Or Not? What's the status of the browser?

I'm not really seeing these pop ups and I rolled back to ie9. I have found 10 and 11 frustrating as I like using the browser to access my ftp drive. MS has totally messed this up on 10 and 11. External normal browsing they are ok although I detect no speed performance. Maybe an imperceptible milli second quicker but that's all. But compatibility on 10 and 11 is still iffy. I'm in uk so I use sky go a lot and ie10 and 11 aren't compatible fully either with the video pop out and TV guides. I say IE9 is best and if a site explicitly needs the latest browser then I'll just use Firefox which in its latest form seems to work perfectly with everything. I think MS has been poor and focused in metro - ised stuff too much. Maybe IE11 runs better in windows 8.1 but they should of left windows 7 at version 9. Just my opinion

actually I was just presented the IE11 update with yesterday's update set.... so far IE 10 works well I have to say, not sure I will update, what u guys think? (again)? thanks

There's not much difference in ie11,
I still use the same settings as in ie10 with one exception,
I find GPU rendering works best instead of Software rendering,
I suppose that will depend allot on your Graphic's driver and if it's up to date ?

I put ie 11 on 30 machines with no problems at all
Yes it does 1st time load up is slower but from page to page I find it faster

Upgrading might not be the best thing to do at this point,
ie11 didn't get any more user friendly at this point the new security features are a bit questionable with third party security suites and mouse operation is not very good with some sites/ this one mostly=some scrolling problems which could be mouse driver specific but none the less,
There have been many reports of Youtube issues even with this,

ie11 is also dpi sensitive which is the really odd part so lowering the dpi will cure that part can you live with a lower dpi setting which makes everything a little smaller,

It never hurts to have the latest browser but if this is your only machine than it would be wise to pass for now,

I think Thrashzone's advice is good. I rolled back to IE9. I tried both IE10 and IE11 and whilst external browsing was fine I hated seeing delays accessing my router page and accessing my FTP via the browser unless I used 'inprivate' view. It got worse with 11. At the moment I don't really see any real speed difference or benefit from IE10 or IE11 against IE9. Maybe they render a page fractions of a second faster. But I'd take reliability over that anyday. I see plenty of glitches or problems displaying ads on IE11. 99.99% of the web is still optimized for the likes of IE7, 8 and 9. It will take years and years for sites to be IE11 only, if ever. It's too unreliable, firefox and chrome work much more reliably. I'd say stick with IE9 or IE10 and keep firefox or chrome updated so you have a browser for the latest standards. MS is too stuck in it's metro happy windows 8 type interfaces to care. Really Internet Explorer 10 and 11 should never of been made available for Windows 7 - I suspect they work much better on Windows 8/surface devices. They should of not tried to fix what wasn't broken!!!

funny non of my clients who I installed ie 11 are complaining and I installed it on 30 computers, and I am using it on all my 5 Windows 7 machines with no problems. I only found one site I use it does not open it but then again I just closed ie 11 and opened firefox to view this site.

I use both browers on and off anyway. I find that ie 9 which I had before did not open my pnc banking site correctly but firefox does. ie 11 still cannot display it properly so I just use firefox when needed

I'm trying to decide what to do also. I've been running IE9 for 1 year+ on my laptop since it came preinstalled. I just upgraded my desktop from IE8 to IE9. IE8 was getting so unreliable on my desktop but IE9 so far seems to be working well.

But I'm still two browsers behind, so do I upgrade to 10 or 11? Since they were initially developed for Windows 8 and then adapted to Windows 7 my limited research tells me I may not like the interface. Not sure though. Any advice?

Same here...Had 10 and 11...Meh...at best. Newer is not always best for everyone....And of course the old if it an't broke, don't fix it??

Trouble with IE is it's tightly integrated with the OS. It's for that reason I want it to be reliable over performance. It depends what you use it for. I find IE9 works really well across any website, IE10 and IE11 (which is even worse) not so well. I'm not doubting they are fast but it's a very tiny difference in my perception. But I access my FTP drive from outside and inside my LAN and I find IE10 and IE11 hasn't been tested properly as it slows to a crawl navigating the folders in browser view, move to explorer view and it's fine but then files do not auto launch when clicked on. You have to drag locally which wasn't an issue with IE9. Also the handy compatibility view icon has been removed from the address bar in IE11 - why did they think that was a good idea?

IE9 isn't going to be out of date anytime soon. Problem is, it may not be "soon" but IE9 will go out of date at some point. IE8 on my machine became unuseable with many websites less than 4 years after I got it with my computer. IE9 will go the same route. I can't see why its usability would last any longer than previous versions. At that point IE12 or IE13 will hopefully be better than what you say about 10 or 11.

Yeah I see your point. But there is no guarantee MS would make IE12 or beyond available to windows 7. Obviously that would suck big time because IE11 is buggy. But it's the sort of stunt MS may pull. In that scenario I would rather be stuck with IE9 than IE11.
