since upgrading from 9, website passwords are no longer being saved after i close a window, and also when i open new tab instead of the usual list of 10 sites i frequent, i just get a blank page with the word "frequent". And nothing is being saved in my history tab

Usually best and more straight forward to reset,
Internet options/ Advanced section/ Reset button/ Check the box to Delete personal setting.
Test the issue.

I would roll back to IE9. Whilst some users are finding IE10 great it is a bit of a mixed bag on Windows 7. There are an awful lot of problems with IE10 looking around various forums. On my machine it worked ok from an external browsing point of view but had issues trying to access my router UI and some other internal devices via IE10. I also noticed it was iffy at saving credentials/passwords on various things. Rolling back fixed all these issues. I think there are many bugs still to be ironed out by Microsoft. If IE9 was working well then go back to it and maybe try IE10 again in a few months.

Thanks for the additional information,
Did you try the reset process ?
Just to add to Scottyboy99's comment,
The very thing most likely to effect a program/ browser from operating properly is usually a security suite which is not quite ready for it,
The other might be a corrupted user account possibly making another one to verify ?

The reset didn't help so I rolled back to IE9. Everything is ok now except when I load my google calendar page I get a message:
Sorry you are trying to use Calendar with a browser that
isn't currently supported. Press OK to view a read only version of
your calendar. Press Cancel to continue loading Google Calendar
and hope for the best!
If I hit cancel it loads up. In GMail I get a message that I am viewing in compatibility mode and that I should change that in IE settings, but I have nothing in Compatibility mode. Guess I am stuck with this for now...

Somehow it switched to compatibility mode. I have changed it back.
I think it will be a long time before I try IE 10 again...

IE10 and Recent Updates

I'm using 2009 Toshiba W7, etc...and installed IE10 when it first came out. Used and reported as some others here no significant problems fwo or so months now.

recently tho, after the last batch of updates, I too kept loosing my saved web forums information liek passwords. So now I have to deselect "cache" and maybe another box. I was frustrated so I stopped using IE10 and got Firefox, but the same issue continues with firefox.

So as of now, I do not clean caches in IE10--- never a problem before the recent updates --- or Firefox. Its been a little confusing to establish wich boxes to check or not.

The other problem-- not related to browser --related to my start-up ---and that now appears to be fixed, since i went to my Toshiba page and downloaded some file. Sorry I forget what it was not BIOS related,

So first I started getting a stretched sign-in page and the cursor would not work,

so i would have to force quit with power button and restart, this worked ok almost every time after i did that once,

tho sometimes, I would only get black screen, but power button off fixed it each time,

and one time got not cursor movement after getting to desktop, power-off fixed it.

So, again, what ever I inloaded from Toshiba files appears to have fixed my problem because the stretched screen with non-operative cursor has not happen even once since.

Still have the new problem with browsers tho and they were not a problem with IE10, until this most recent batch of updates.

I have read that quite a few people are having the same issue with IE10. I will wait for Microsoft to come up with a fix. It seems that IE10 is more compatible with Windows 8 Metro. I will stick with Windows 7 as long as it works for me and I suppose in the future we will be using Tablets anyway...

Yeah I agree with you on the tablet thing. I will stick with windows 7 as long as I can. It's probably going to be last true desktop OS. I don't like the way things are headed with tablet interfaces. I haven't tried windows 8 but I hate the look of it. I want a desktop OS with the traditional start menu. IE10 and its bugs is a sign a things to come. They are all at it with poor software now that does not seem to get good QA testing. Microsoft, apple really slipping with iTunes and iOS. Bugs everywhere but they ignore much of it. The future is not looking good!

IE10 Got Worse

So now my IE10 has gotten worse....i.e. it will not even save my data passwords once I quit IE 10 at all but firefox is doing fine. So maybe if I reinstalled IE10 it would fix what appears to me to be a corruption.

I've checked HD and it checks out fine no errors. But today a new thing happened while viewing MS email message screen froze and i got spinning circle/wheel. So restart 4 times and got further from getting desktop each time.

Took out battery and HD, restated safe mode check HD ok, so restarted and now mail is MS mail working enough to allow me to click link to this thread. Will go try other MS emails now.

Firefox Involvement?

Control panel Internet Options makes me fear deleting my Firefox settings-- not much except passwords ---.

So i guess I'm concerned that doing all of the following will also affect Firefox.

Delete your browser history,
Click the Start button on the Taskbar,
Click on Control panel,
Click on Internet options/ General section/ Delete button
Check All of the boxes and Uncheck the very top box,
Click on Delete.
Reset ie9 or ie10 manually,

Click on Control panel,
Click on Internet options,
Go to the Advanced section,
Click on Reset button on the bottom,
Check the box to Delete personal settings,

Ok, thx. Since all is working Ok, and I'm preparing to leave on a vacation, it may be some time before i can attempt this somewhat complicated operation. I was hoping to only use MS browers and stuff since I became a PC user.

Even if this all works and I get back to using IE10 again, it leaves open the question of why it went corrupt to begin with ergo how long before it goes bad again.

Thx again. r6
