I don't have Quicktime at all.
I would suggest you uninstall Quicktime and use Quicktime Alternative: Free-Codecs.com : QuickTime Alternative 3.1.1 : QuickTime Alternative will allow you to play QuickTime files (.mov, .qt and other extensions) without having to install the official QuickTime Player.
It will play Quicktime videos in IE and other browsers and is much lighter on resources.

It's one of the many things bundled in with iTunes (like Bonjour) , and I had such a terrible time getting all the many parts of iTunes uninstalled from my old computer that I resolved to never subject my computers to it again.
