IE8 Background color

Does anyone know how to make the IE8 background black? Can you do this without having to apply a whole theme?

WindowBlinds is not a solution to my problem. I don't want to have to install third party software, or a whole new theme. I'm sorry, but I thought I was clear about that in the opening post. There should be a way to change the IE8 background/toolbar colors by pointing the registry to a .bmp image other than the the default one. Or a similar work-around. The default blue for IE8 should be able to be changed without changing your theme [which doesn't affect IE anyway].

Someone here has to know how to do this I'm thinking.

click 'tools',internet options,colors, uncheck 'use windows colors'. then click accessibility button and check the box 'ignore webpages colors'

That's for how web pages are rendered, not the actual browser toolbar colors. That's the first thing I tried before making this thread. Thanks anyway though.

Again, the only solution offered is third party software. That's not what I'm looking for.

change background colour

1.You Just need to go to Tools Internet options and at the bottom of the Screen Choose Colors. set the new background color you want ( make a custom one the standard are a bit bright).
2. Then you need to click the Accessibility across from the color button and check the box "Ignore colours specified on webpage".

Actually, to change the IE toolbar colors, you need to right-click on the Desktop, select Personalize, Window Color and Appearance, click on Advanced. Under "Item" there is a drop down menu with a long list of all of the items on the screen that can be changed, and one of them will control the toolbar for IE. Sorry, I don't remember which one, but I believe it is either: 3D Objects, Icon, Menu, Message Box, Selected Items, or Window.

You can set each one of them, and you can see for yourself what they control. For example, what you can do (and this is what I did) is you experiment with each one. For example, make one a super-bright color, like fuschia, and save it. Then go through you system to see what changed to that color. Then, after you make that setting the final color you really want, go on to the second one, and make that a different color. And so on. . .

I'd start with "Window" since the browser is just another program with a window. But then all your windows will look that way as well.

If I remember correctly, the "Window" link in the Advanced drop down menu list controls:

Word docs “Automatic” text color,
Menu Titles + Program Names titles in Windows Explorer,
Menu of Programs in Start Bar when All Programs is clicked,
Website addresses in Address Bar,
List items (not headings) in Control Panel, + Drop down menu lists.

There may be other things too, but I'm not aware of them. Why don't you check it out and let us know?
