I am noticing that if the OS is unexpectedly shut down then all the state data in IE is lost. I am assuming it is cookie data. An example is Google preferences. I set it to display 100 results per page, not filter my results and open in a new window. Every time the computer is "accidently" powered off upon reboot Google reverts to showing 10 results per page, filtered results and opening in the same page (the default settings). This goes for every site that I have remember my login name.

I am runing Win7 Build 7100 RC1

I am curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Nope, but then again, im using Chrome, have you had a look at any settings to see if it may change settings during hard-boot?

Enzo.

There are various settings for things like emptying the temporary internet files folder when the browser is closed (Options-Advanced), or to delete browsing history on exit (Options-General), or to preserve favorites website data (Safety-Delete Browsing History). Add-on software like IE7Pro can do this as well depending on how you have it set.

I'd start by going through your IE settings and those of anything you may be using with the browser.

Hi dasmokedog, welcome to the forums.

I've noticed the exact same, only when a hard-shutdown is performed (switch off/unplug machine). It could be a security feature of IE to stop any threats which could have cused the shutdown in the first place. There are various security settings, 1 of which is 'Enable memory protection to help against online threats'.

I think the 'Delete browser history on exit' may have something to do with it, but IMO it's better to be safe than sorry. Also, you can set up IE to save your fav page data even if the 'Delete browser history' is checked.
