Hi everyone, I have a hp compaq win 7 64 4 months old. Some one LOL wants me to upgrade to IE 8. After reading up on it and seeing problems I have my doubts, so for now I'll just keep what I have. Now I ask, how do I get rid of the I E 8 pop up that I get all the time trying to get me to upgrade.

Thanks
Conrad

And doesn't Seven come with IE 8?

Yes, Windows 7 comes with IE 8.... the 'pop-up' window wants you to enhance, or get more features --> :sarc: using Internet Explorer.

I use IE 8, but to tell you the truth, this is extremely annoying and totally unnecessary!

...Windows 7 ... with IE 8.... the 'pop-up' window wants you to enhance, or get more features...
I just got done using Windows Update to update 4 computers running IE8 (Vista and 7). Those were probably the 4th Tuesday updates from last week. I haven't seen any pop-ups about enhancing IE8. I feel left out, unless you all got a virus. When did these pop-ups begin?

have you enable pop up blocker and disable automatic update in IE. ? I'd would also go for Firefox . Just like what manhunter suggest:)

I don't need to turn on pop-up blocker. (Some specialized websites only work right if pop-ups are allowed.) I use the HOSTS file instead. As far as auo-updates go, that applies to Windows Update, not just IE. I prefer to do all the Windows Updates manually so I can choose which ones and how many to do at once and sometimes use clean boot mode. That way they won't create any new problems. Still wonder what all the talk is about some "pop-up for enhancing IE8".
