Solved IE8 Problem

Hi All

I am facing an error with my IE8. Wheneven i try to open it, it gives me the attached error. When i click on OK, it asks me if i want to 'Run' or 'Save' the iexplore.exe file. If i RUN, it takes me back to the attached screen. While, if I SAVE in C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\ this file is already there and doesn't allow me to replace it stating in need admin rights for the same (not sure how did i lost those).
There seems to be some kind of virus attach i believe as i am unable to download any .exe file and install.

Please help guys.

Hello ht25, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Downloading and merging the lnk (LNK) and exe options in the tutorial below may be able to fix this for you. They will restore the default associations for these file extensions.

Afterwards, give your system a thorough scan with the free Malwarebytes and MSE to help clean your system in case you may have any type of virus or malware.
