Windows 7 Beta already includes a pre-release candidate version of Internet Explorer 8 that is optimized for that release. Windows 7 enables unique features and functionality in Internet Explorer 8 including Windows Touch and Jump Lists which require additional product tests to ensure we are providing the best Windows experience for our customers. We will continue to update the version of Internet Explorer 8 running on Windows 7 as the development cycles of Windows 7 progress and plan to include the final version of Internet Explorer 8 in the release candidate version of Windows 7 later this year. No, not on the build team, thought I just copy this from the microsoft site to warn the all to eager (and rightly so) sevenforums users that they can't use the IE8 final on their windows 7 OS.

If your using 7048 or 7057 builds then you already have the final release of IE8.

I'm presently downloading now for Vista, XP, and the 7000 build without any bog down seen at their servers. Being small not like a beta the volume of people drops off rapidly.

Built 7048 and 7057 where compiled long time ago.

IE8 in thise built is still in RC.

The RTM will be included on the public RC of Seven.

I'm still waiting for something you install on the 7000 build to replace what that comes with. The latest download was installed on Vista right off and waiting to go on XP once I boot there sometime soon.

Nothing is going to replace the IE browser in build 7000.
Only on new builds and the RC1.

I have build 7057...how can i see the IE8 version. Can't just we remove IE8 in turn on or off windows features, and then instal IE8 RTM. Maybe that can be done...

No you can't as it isn't listed there, or anywhere else - it's part of the system. Microsoft have already stated that IE8 RTM is NOT for Windows 7.

No doubt a future beta release will have it. They also stated that IE8 will be released to Windows Update eventually, so you can always hope I guess.

Well I already figured it was pretty much glued into the 7000 build from the start. By the time IE 9 is out who would be running any betas for 7 anyways! "no IE 9 on the 7000!" Opera(slow as ...), FireFox(naaa..), Safari(got it but give me a break!). How about Netscape?

IE8 is built into windows build 7057.
You can turn it off using control panel/programs & features/Turn windows features on or off.

Yes i know i can turn it off. But can i then install this version of IE8 that just came out? That was my point. Im using IE8 i think it is the second best browser after chrome, but chrome doesn't work on 7, too bad...
