IE8 super slow

Hi. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. My IE version is 8.0.7600.16385. It's been working well until last night. Now suddenly, when I'm trying to go into large websites, everything takes halfway to forever to load.

I even restored to any earlier point. Still the same problem. (By the way, I had difficulty restoring. I kept getting error messages. In the end I uninstalled Kaspersky, restored to an earlier point, reinstalled Kaspersky.)

Any suggestions?

Hi Robert, loading pages may be due to your ISP's speed at any given time. Do you have another browser to test with?
Have a look at Intenet Speed tests and see what your results are.

EDIT: Also upgrading to IE9 has been reported by a few people to give faster surfing too. It should be showing in your Windows Updates now.

Are you getting the same results with other browsers? Might try a speed test to see if your ISP is getting decent results. You might also upgrade to IE 9 in the near future, its much faster.

I was having a similar issue and someone suggested updating certificates which I never do. What the hey, I gave it a shot and it made a very noticeable difference.. Don't know why, probably won't work for you or?

There was some link to get them from Microsoft. Try Googling Certificates and Microsoft and see what comes up. Maybe the link was on this board? I can't remember where this stuff comes from after a couple of days.......

factors that may affect your web browsing speed.
1. ISP, you need to check your connection using other computers to see difference. If error is the same then it is your ISP otherwise its your computer.
2. Browser, IE8 is supposed to be good, plugins may affect your speed. you also need to use other browser to confirm.
3. Computer Specs, this one is self explanatory.

Thanks for the feedback. Installing IE9 hasn't made much difference. I'm looking into the certificates issue.
One thing I've just remembered. In the top left hand corner of my IE screen, I had a google box which used to store my previous searches and throw up suggestions when I was typing new ones. The box vanished at the same time as my slow problem started. One thing about that box. It appeared one day several months ago. It was useful. I used it. After a while, it disappeared. I tried to get it back, and couldn't. I forgot about it. Then it came back a month or so ago, and I was using it up until two or three days ago when it disappeared. What is the box called? Could it have something to do with the slowness, or is it just a coincidence?

You are welcome. Try THIS out and see what happens, it will not harm any other settings.
As for the Google search box, it usually gets installed with another program, such as a freebie. Normally an option is presented whether to install it. Personally I never use anyone's toolbars. In my experience, at least, they do slow things down and cause the browser to redirect at times.
