I have google.com set as my internet explorer start page. Today, I noticed it starts crashing with fault from jscript9.dll 9.0.8112.16440. Anyone else having same problem? My brother's desktop is also experiencing the same problem.

We don't use any google toolbar or anything else that might slow down the browser. I tried removing flash, java, and disabling KAV2011 addons and adobe addons. I can access igoogle.com fine, but it crashes on google.com.

Similar thread, but I don't know what happened to that person.

Hi hp79.

Yes I am having exactly the same problem. It seems to be caused by the Google Doodle which today is the Valentine one. I had the same problem last week when they did one for François Truffaut.

It seems that only the animated doodles cause the problem and it seems that only IE9 is affected. Prior to the François Truffaut doodle I had not had any problems either with animated or static doodles so I can only imagine that there has been a change in the way that Google are implementing their animated doodles.

The fault is in jscript9.dll apparently. I have downloaded the latest JS plugin version from Sun but this has not helped.

iGoogle is fine because there is no doodle. Is there any way we can bring this to the attention of Google or Microsoft so that something can be done?

Thanks oozelot but this does not work in this instance. I have seen this suggested elsewhere as a possible solution but it does not cure this particular issue.

Thanks Writhziden but no joy I'm afraid. I should point out that I have no other problems with IE9 on any other websites whether viewing video, animation or any kind of multimedia. Also that the problem with the Google Doodles has nothing to do with playing the animations, the browser crashes at the point that the page loads. I genuinely believe that this is a Google-Doodle-only problem and is to do with the way they code these pages. It has only recently started to happen and I have experienced this with just the last two of the animated doodles.

If you uninstall IE9, do you have the same crashes with IE8?

No. IE8 works fine. This seems to be an IE9, Win7, 64bit issue.

I posted the same problem on the Microsoft tech-net site and if you follow the link below you can read some very interesting responses from people experiencing the same issue.

I initially thought it was only that valentine's day doodle that was crashing IE9, and that since we can't load that page any more, MS wouldn't care to fix it. Thinking about it again, I think it's a problem with IE9 since I did see the same jscript crash happening long time ago, and people suggested resetting java plugins, uninstalling flash plugins, running regsvr32 jscript9.dll, nothing worked.
I also read that MS Technet, I use Kaspersky 2012 and had the same problem on two computers. On my wife's laptop, she also has Kaspersky 2012, but hers was working fine. She didn't have all the Windows Updates at the time though. So I don't know if it can be related to KAV2012 or not.

Were you ever able to determine what the cause was, or have you moved on?

No, just moved on, with a bad taste left in mouth about microsoft. I don't think they would really do anything to fix it. It might have been different if it happened constantly for more than just that one day.

Sorry to read things were not resolved. If you have problems like that again, let us know when it happens. I would like to see if I can recreate the problem on one of my systems and maybe debug it.
