Hello Alice!

You are not the only one. I am also having exactly the same thing. Many people are finding it perfect. Here is what I am experiencing:

Slow startups, even without addons - it goes into a sort of half-hang for a time, and then recovers and is fine. Go to something like Google, and it is fine ... fine ... fine, and then maybe Youtube, middle click on a link to open in a new tab ... hang ... new window opens, odd unloaded tab also opens - click on the tab . hang . try to close that tab .... the web page has stopped responding.... etc. etc. + recovered pages etc.

You having the same problems? It is certainly annoying me. I am currently using Firefox 3.6.latest. I have no solution, unfortunately, but it is not just us, either.

Richard

@Richard: I've never used Vista and definitely cannot confirm it as the culprit here, but I've been using IE9 ever since the first beta hit the public, and never had this much a serious problem on Win7. Out of curiosity, did you use IE8 before switching to 9? What kind of experience did IE8 give you compared to 9?

I did use IE8, and it had slow startup times like everyone else, but then it worked fine. I have reinstalled IE9, use no-addons mode, etc. etc., everything I know to try, and no improvement whatsoever.

I am not *that* fussed, I like Firefox, but I would like to get it fixed.

i been using goggle chrome, my security settings are in default settings. my guess is MS rushed it out like they did with vista. it has bugs in it and causes website compatibly sues. we need a IE9 service pack 1. sadly i think MS has a habit of rushing things out sometimes. i even heard they already working on another windows and its imposable to keep up sometimes. all i can do is they do something to fix ie9 right now i use it to make LM for my Google chrome or maybe Firefox.

Hmm, I've heard that IE9 in vista is the most buggiest thing they've ever experienced. That was probably either designed that way or vista is just throwing issues, but that's not the problem here.

If I come across a browser that is being weird and everyone else reports that it's fine, I'd check Windows for issues first. First off, clear ALL data from IE, do that from Internet Options within IE and under Browsing History, click Delete...and mark all the check boxes. Then delete. If that hasn't helped much, I'd then go next to check the hard drive for disk fragmentation. Go to the Start Menu and type disk defrag, it'll show the result as Disk Defragmenter. That might be causing slight issues from my experience with Apps Gone Wild. :D Try it, see if that works.

Not saying this will solve anyone's particular problems with IE9, but it might not hurt to uninstall it following the instructions in this Microsoft article:

How do I install or uninstall Internet Explorer 9?

Once uninstalled, make sure your computer meets the "Prerequisites for installing Internet Explorer 9":

Prerequisites for installing Internet Explorer 9

Reinstall IE9 following the instructions and from the official download site provided in the first link (above). If the problem(s) persist, you could review the troubleshooting tips in this article or contact Microsoft support by email, online chat, or telephone.

Support for Windows Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8, and 9

Do you have any add-ons to IE? Sometimes they can interfere. Otherwise I'd say it may be the ActiveX Filtering.

Let's see what else is running, if you don't mind ...

Download DDS from one of these links:
Mirror 1 Mirror 2 Mirror 3
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt <--- will be minimized in the task tray
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
Include the contents of both logs in your next post.
The scan will instruct you to post Attach.txt as an attachment.

You have two Antivirus programs running :

Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 and
Microsoft Security Client

You should only have one security/Antivirus suite running. I think this would at the least cause slowdowns.
